Dual Function Contractor's Saw conceptual study.
Purpose of the study:
To determine if one unit can be configured  as a
sliding compound miter saw in one mode and as a table saw that is
quickly accessible as a second mode.
Dual Function anythings always seem to be compromised in at least one
function. This isn't. In fact, it's the opposite.
Just unlatch the frame brace and rotate the bed 180 degrees and re-latch
Set up for a bevel cut. Note the down
stop for the swing arm under the lock
knob. Also the angle lock at the rear
of the rod frame.
Set up for cross cutting. Upper portion of
the sliding carriage that the blade arm
pivots from can be elevated or lowered
allowing rabbets or deep setting when
going to the table saw mode.
Set up as a table saw, the
operator does not have to move.
Blade adjustments are where they
should be and naturally the blade
is rotating in the correct direction.
Shown being rotated from one function
to the other. Note the frame latch ready
to accept either side of the table. The
power switch will be located next to the
frame latch with the motor power cord
exiting near or through the pivot.
Set up for a compound
45 degree cut.
Patent process has been dropped because of close
similarity to an existing Black & Decker product.
