Best of luck with your projects.

My office. The desk sides came from an old Singer
sewing machine and I placed the computer where I
think it fits me the best. One large drawer holds a lot
of stuff I always need within reach. My window desk
isn't far away.
At last a small Captain's Chest with concealed
fastens and through dovetail sides. Another
period piece and great for little things you don't
know where to hide.
I've heard them called Davenport Desks and Captain's Desks.
This was meant to be more of a period piece than something I
use. There is a tremendous amount of storage in it. The bottom
drawer is sized to hold files. All fasteners are concealed and the
drawers and box are through dovetails.
This cedar lined blanket chest with a bank of small
drawers started out with side dovetails. I gave up on
that idea after the chest started getting smaller and
smaller. My daughter loves it as much as I enjoyed the
challenge.
What better place to work on an
idea than in front of a window.
This actually hangs from the
window sill, clipped to the back
and bearing on the lower ends of
the sides. It's always out of the
way until you want to use it.
I thought I would share some of these projects with those who enjoy
woodworking as much as I do. I'm sure all of you can't get through a project
without coming up with a more interesting way to do something.
The perfect project for an accent piece and
storage. The bottom drawer was made
large enough to hold a rock of file folders.
This Captain's Desk has many through
dovetails and hidden fasteners. I even
added a false bottom under the lid while
wondering how many of the originals may
have one as well.
Knowing exactly what it is and who your
customers are should always precede the large
expenditures....LMD
